The Crafting Journey (Part Y)

Here we are, almost at the end of the Crafting Journey!

This week, I was thinking about washing yarn. I am sure I have mentioned this before, but I really hate yarn that has special care instructions. If it can't be washed on a regular cycle or tumble dried, I don't have time for it. I like acrylic yarns and whenever I have lots of projects to wash, I just throw them all in together. Maybe that isn't the best idea, last time I had some green yarn that bled and colored some white blue- but even still, it looks okay.

I am making a shawl right now that I started about a week ago. I am making good progress on it, but I feel like it is taking a long time. I am intrigued however by the shape of it, it is a triangle but the spine of it is not down the back, it is horizontal across the front. I am making it in the loveliest shade of purple and it is super soft.

In the last week, I finished the little dress I was making (I haven't done the finishing on it though- weaving in the ends and adding buttons). I also finished the baby blanket. The one that I just finished I intend for a boy (it is white and blue and yellow) but I am going to make a new one that is purple for a little girl. Since I make and donate stuff for charity, I don't really know the gender of the babies the blankets will go to (maybe the white and blue one will go for a girl, I don't know).

I also knit a dishcloth and started some new hanging towels. It is a pattern I have never used before. Usually, I make my hanging towels on 5.5 mm and this pattern suggests 4.5 mm. I am making them on 5.5, but it is large and I now understand why 4.5 was recommended. When in doubt, follow the recommendations of the pattern!

I had not donated to the last few roundups, so I am really looking forward to the Christmas round up. I will have several items to donate at that time. I knit slowly, and I only like to donate when I have more than a couple things.

Anyway, have a great week and Happy Crafting!

Melanie
