The Crafting Journey (Part X)

 Hi Friends,

I have been just knitting and working. I started a new project! I have made progress on the dress, but it has a lot of stitches so I often do not do too many rows at a time. The last section is 14 rows, and I am on about row 4 or 5. The little blanket I am making is coming along too- it will be small, but it will be probably be a carseat blanket anyway. I am only using one ball of yarn. Anyway, the new project is a shawl made of big twist yarn, it is new at Michaels. 

I have many ideas for the yarn I already have at home, even though I recently bought some new stuff. The joke/meme is:  "I will use all the yarn I have at home... then I laughed and laughed!" But really, I am going to try to use the yarn I already have. I have some plans in mind for the scarfie yarn, it is purple and black. I am going to make some shawls that drape more like a cape and add faux fur around the neck. 

I have been thinking about Christmas and I must admit, some of my plans have been derailed. I had intended to make knit snowflake ornaments for all my coworkers, but I think that was too ambitious of a plan. It is already almost the end of September and there is no way I could make a whole bunch of snowflakes plus finish or continue the projects I have on my needles. I think I am going to make a gift for one coworker, (perhaps some hair scrunchies or a toque) because there are just some people that you naturally develop closer relationships with.

Several years ago, I made a "tree of Love" blanket as a wedding gift. After that, I had a friend who was planning to get married and I started another one. My friend called off the wedding and my project has sat unfinished (only about 25 rows in). My second cousin is getting married now, so I think I will finish that blanket and give it to her as a wedding gift. I really think a lot of her, so I hope I am invited (I will still give her the blanket though, even if I am not invited).

I have to soon get to my other Christmas projects, like making jam. I make Christmas jam and I look forward to giving it as gifts. I have some pinking shears so I make nice edges on Christmas fabric for the tops.

 I decided to try something different. I have not blogged for a long time, but I miss it. I miss sharing my thoughts and struggles. More recently, I have been crafting, and that has prompted me to share a new direction for the blog- Presenting... (drumroll) My Crafting Journey. I am a knitter. The Crafting Journey (Part O)

 It's finally here! Christmas in July! I love Christmas, but I also love that little bit of Christmas that makes its way into July, the happiness, the joy and excitement and the assurance that Christmas is now less than six months away! I love looking at Christmas crafts. Though, when crafting, it is important to start early- especially if you are knitting or crocheting.  My husband makes Christmas crafts. Quite a few years ago, he made some beautiful items. We went for two weekends at a Christmas farmer's market and he only sold one item. He was angry- and heartbroken. It takes a lot of work to make to make stuff and then for nobody to be interested was heartbreaking. Unfortunately, that lack of interest totally ruined his crafting mojo. It is my hope that if he was approached by someone that perhaps he would craft again- it brings so much joy to him to sell things that he has created. The Crafting Journey (Part T)

 Part T- But sorry it's not a party! Hi, Thanks for tuning in weekly! I appreciate you and that you read my posts.  I am settling in to working at Michaels, although I am praying that this is a stepping stone to a medical reception job. Retail may be therapy, but it is not a job for everyone- including me. I put down the cradle bag for a while, I was given that advice and it was beneficial. I have now made the eyelets and I am casting off with a picot edge. There still are a few pieces that I have to do- like the bassinet hood and the edging around the whole cradle, plus the icord for drawstring closure. I have never done icord- so there definitely is a lot of learning on this. This one purse may be the one and only... on the other hand, at least I will be able to say I did it! The dazzling daffodils shawl is pretty- but coming along slowly. When I get to it though, I usually knit several rows at a time.
