The Crafting Journey (Part Z)

 Well friends, here we are, at the end of the Crafting Journey. My intent was to show that we can talk about crafting from soup to nuts or A to Z, and a little bit of everything in between. Thank you for being so faithful in reading this blog and leaving your comments. I have read and appreciate each one. 

Today, I heard a bible verse that struck me. Ephesians 4:28 "Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need." 

We know that we should not steal but make an honest living. It is the part about making stuff with our own hands to share with those in need that really got me thinking. I make stuff for Craft for YEG. I make stuff with my own hands to share with those in need; which is actually the mission of Craft for YEG and happens to be a biblical principle. In so doing, I am fulfilling my calling, to reach out to the poor and those in need.

I am thankful that Craft for YEG has given me a creative outlet, but also an opportunity to bless the community around me. It is such an honor to use the talent for creating things to reach people whom otherwise I may never have contact with. A donation can mean so much to someone and I hope that when a person recieves something that I made, they feel the love that has gone into each stitch; that is what it is, Love. Love in action.Writing a weekly blog about crafting has really helped me to develop  community and a kinship with my fellow crafters; and the act of giving has also blessed my own life.

I am working on a shawl, but I have several other shawls I would like to knit up. Hopefully I can get a few done for the Christmas roundup. 

For now, I need to get to making some Christmas jam and a few scrunchies- Christmas will be here before we know it! 

I am no longer going to be writing a blog about crafting, but I do have lots of stuff to say. Feel free to periodically drop by and see what is new.

 I decided to try something different. I have not blogged for a long time, but I miss it. I miss sharing my thoughts and struggles. More recently, I have been crafting, and that has prompted me to share a new direction for the blog- Presenting... (drumroll) My Crafting Journey. I am a knitter. My grandma taught me how when I was really young. She taught me English knitting, though she herself knit continental. At my young age, continental was really confusing for me (and even still) so I learned the English way.  I only learned how to knit. She cast on for me, and eventually cast off. So I made a small scarf (dolly size) and a blanket for my Barbie bed.  I put down knitting until my early 20s, and then decided I should try again. The Crafting Journey (Part O)

 It's finally here! Christmas in July! I love Christmas, but I also love that little bit of Christmas that makes its way into July, the happiness, the joy and excitement and the assurance that Christmas is now less than six months away! I love looking at Christmas crafts. Though, when crafting, it is important to start early- especially if you are knitting or crocheting.  My husband makes Christmas crafts. Quite a few years ago, he made some beautiful items. We went for two weekends at a Christmas farmer's market and he only sold one item. He was angry- and heartbroken. It takes a lot of work to make to make stuff and then for nobody to be interested was heartbreaking. Unfortunately, that lack of interest totally ruined his crafting mojo. It is my hope that if he was approached by someone that perhaps he would craft again- it brings so much joy to him to sell things that he has created. The Crafting Journey (Part T)

 Part T- But sorry it's not a party! Hi, Thanks for tuning in weekly! I appreciate you and that you read my posts.  I am settling in to working at Michaels, although I am praying that this is a stepping stone to a medical reception job. Retail may be therapy, but it is not a job for everyone- including me. I put down the cradle bag for a while, I was given that advice and it was beneficial. I have now made the eyelets and I am casting off with a picot edge. There still are a few pieces that I have to do- like the bassinet hood and the edging around the whole cradle, plus the icord for drawstring closure. I have never done icord- so there definitely is a lot of learning on this. This one purse may be the one and only... on the other hand, at least I will be able to say I did it! The dazzling daffodils shawl is pretty- but coming along slowly. When I get to it though, I usually knit several rows at a time. Progress is slow though because each pattern repeat is 36 rows!  I a...
