NO FEAR
I was looking at Pinterest and all sorts of quotes came up about writing; of course, it was intermingled with recipes, scripture, and miscellaneous tips. I love Pinterest!
As I was scrolling through, I saw quotes about living with no fear. I can pretend to be fearless, and tell you that I have it all together. Notice that I said "Pretend."Sometimes I can even fool myself into believing that I am fearless!
You see, we all have stuff we are afraid about, and God understands that. Insecurity causes us to be afraid (like all those what ifs that are on repeat in our heads "what if I am not good enough; as a person, as a wife, as a mom etc?)
Let's unpack fear. The Miriam Webster dictionary defines fear as " (1) An unpleasant often strong emotion caused by expectation or awareness of danger (2) Concern about what may happen, Worry."
Fear is also irrational. I have a tendency to worry about stuff that will never happen, and I am afraid of the dark! I know that that is irrational- but darkness invokes fear in me.
Apparently the Bible says "Do Not FEAR" 365 times! Now we must remember context, but the point is that God does not want us to be afraid. If "Do Not FEAR" is in the Bible that many times, it is a reminder daily to not walk in fear.
The good news is that scripture also tells us that Perfect LOVE casts out fear. (1 John 4:18) As you become more intimate with Christ, you will grow to understand the intense and deep love that he has for you. His love will cast out fear- because He is Love and is perfect.
But, there is one other thing... you have to let Him. Jesus will never force us to give our anxieties, worries and fears to Him; that is not his style, but he does want to free us from the bondage of fear. Give your fear to God. He wants to bring liberty (freedom) to the captives; and once you give it to Him, there is a promise ..."Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! (John 8:36)
I hope today you experience the depth of Christ's love for you and that you will allow Him (through His Perfect Love) to set you free from fear!
