Miracle in the Making
I have heard so many times that God is a Healer. I believe it, but not all people get healed and our human minds do not understand that well. When Jesus was on earth, several times scripture mentions that he would be teaching and those who were ill with various conditions were brought to him and he Healed them ALL.
Why doesn't that happen today? The truth is we do not know! We live in a fallen world, and sometimes bad things happen to good people.
I think sometimes we forget that God knows everything about us. He is so interested in us that He knows the number of hairs that we have on our heads!
But back to the healing thing... I think sometimes God allows us to go through physical suffering; Job went through tremendous suffering. God loves us and he is not punishing us for our sins through our illnesses. I think that sometimes God does not heal because while we are called to be salt and light to our hurting world, we would not be witnesses to those in need of Jesus if we all were perfectly healthy!
My beautiful son, has cerebral palsy. I wish this was not so, but I can't do anything about it. Yes we have prayed for healing, and no he was not instantly healed like we had hoped; but then I realized, God's hand has been upon him even since birth (and God knows it all- "Even before I formed you in your mother's womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart as a prophet to the nations" Jeremiah 1:5). SET HIM APART as a prophet to the nations. I believe this scripture for my son's life. I believe that God has set him apart to be a prophet to the nations. You see, even though Courtland may never be involved in ministry per se, we are all ministers of the gospel right here in our own back yards. Jesus wants to use us to bring hope and healing to those in need (and not just physical). Those imperfections we see, the things we may see as disabilities God can use to draw others to himself through us.
So when you see my son, please don't imply or say that "we need to pray that God will heal him." I believe that God has a purpose in his CP, and if he was instantly healed, that would be wonderful. However, because of his age, he feels like something is wrong with him when someone implies or says that we just need to pray that God heals him. NO WE DON'T!!! God will use him in spite of it, and bring healing to his life in whatever ways He sees fit. The way He sees fit, not the way we think He should.
I believe that God has a huge plan for Courtland's life, and just as the apostle Paul had a thorn in his flesh, though he pleaded with God, it was not removed. The CP has already afforded Courtland some wonderful experiences but has also given him the opportunity to be that salt and light in spite of it!
Have a Blessed day and thanks for reading!
