Crazy Beautiful Life

It has been a while since I have written a blog post.

There are a lot of reasons I have not posted in a while, but mostly because (like everyone else) I am just busy... Busy with work, and appointments, and being a wife and mom.

I look forward to school starting in a few days. School provides routine and a schedule, something which we have lacked for the summer, but it is sure nice to get back to!

This year, around January, it came to my attention that our son was having difficulty with visual tracking (meaning his eyes did not move from side to side) which apparently is a fairly common condition that often comes along with having cerebral palsy. For the past months since then, we have traveled to Edmonton every two weeks for Vision Therapy, to correct this issue. We also had a lot of exercises that he had to do to at home to aid in correcting this problem. Sometimes we had to practice for up to an hour a day! After 7 months, I am happy to say he is finished the program and he is tracking well.

In late July, I decided give up running our charity Courtland's Hope Foundation. It was an extremely difficult decision, but honestly, I feel so much better, like a weight has been lifted off. I am proud of the accomplishments of the foundation, but I also realized that I am so burnt out! I have learned that there is nothing wrong with changing directions and moving on.

When I first started blogging for Courtland's Hope Foundation, I wrote a post called Turn, Turn, Turn. This was a post reminding me and all the readers that life is about change. "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

There are many changes happening in my life. Change is good even though it can be hard. Like for instance, our son is going into grade 6 at a new school... As a (special needs) mom, I am petrified! I want to make sure that he has all the accommodations he needs to be a successful student.

Now that my child is growing up, I have decided I also need to focus on me. I am on a journey to wellness and I realize it is time to shed some weight. The weight has been associated with stress in my life, and I have resolved to no longer use food to soothe my stress.

This is a new season... Often at the beginning of the year, we hear "New Year, New You (me). In terms of the school year, that is going to be my motto (New Year, new me!) This is MY SEASON...

I also see this as a new season spiritually. It's a new season.

I am reminded of a song I heard many years ago...

"It's a new season, it's a new day, fresh anointing is flowing my way, it's a season of power and prosperity, it's a new season coming to me!" (and just to qualify, prosperity doesn't just mean money...)

I am so looking forward to this season, and that fresh anointing and newness of life to my dry and thirsty spirit.

I am going to take time to rest, and enjoy my CRAZY BEAUTIFUL LIFE!
