Negativity and Hopefulness
I watched a video blog today. It was a mom talking about what her family life is like because her son has severe autism. It was eye opening and heart-wrenching. As I watched, I realized that many parents (whether or not their child is autistic) go through these types of struggles. I identified with her story but also wanted to weep for her...
In her video she expressed that she is not a religious person, but that she pleaded with God to "fix" her child, but that didn't do anything.
There are hurting people in our world. Hurting people that need hope, something or someone to hold on to when the going gets tough.
Where or what would I be if not for Jesus? A HOT MESS!
I appreciated the honesty of the video. I appreciated that the woman was able to express her frustration and be real enough to show her discouragement and disappointment about what the future may hold.
I made a decision however, not to post the video to Courtland's HOPE Foundation's page. While I know and understand that people are moved by her story and honesty, Courtland's HOPE Foundation is about spreading HOPE. I saw no HOPE for the future in the video, in fact my heart was breaking because of the amount of HopeLESSness.
JESUS is the Anchor of my life. JESUS gives me hope when I don't have anything to hold on to. Sure my life is sometimes hard. Sure I cry at times because I feel hopeless. BUT GOD... He is ALWAYS there for me. He might not heal or fix my child, but that is not my call to make. God will use or fix my child in whatever way HE sees fit. My job as a parent is to nurture my child and train him in the way he should go. That doesn't mean that there has not been or will not be difficult days ahead, but it does mean that JESUS will be walking right there with us in the midst of the valleys, and in the midst of the storms.
If you feel discouraged or hopeless today, remember that Jesus walks with you even through the hard stuff. Talk to Him, He is listening, and He understands your hurting heart; whatever that might entail: a special needs child, difficult circumstances, hopelessness, whatever. He wants to put the pieces back together for you, but you need to let him.
Have a Blessed day full of HOPE!
